Research at 38Al228
Site 38AL228 is a multi-component Clovis site on the north side of Smiths Lake Creek. First identified by the presence of surface artifacts thought to be associated with Clovis peoples, the site was systematically tested in 2011 to evaluate its stratigraphy and search for Clovis materials. Andrew Weidman, a graduate student from the University of Tennessee at the time, supervised the work (which subsequently formed the basis of his master's thesis). Work at the site was briefly described in the update of SEPAS activities during 2011.
